The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) was extended as part of a continuing resolution to keep the government open for two weeks. Please contact your Congressperson to ensure that the NFIP does not lapse while the Senate works on its version of the 5-year reauthorization and reform measure.
Congress must periodically renew the NFIP’s statutory authority to operate. On December 8, 2017, the President signed legislation passed by both houses of Congress that extends the NFIP’s authorization for two weeks. It previously had been set to expire at midnight on December 8, 2017.
Congress must now reauthorize the NFIP by no later than December 22, 2017.
The information on the FEMA NFIP is of particular interest to inhabitants of areas in Bucks County along the Delaware River and near may of the Bucks County Streams and Creeks.
